Small tasks can still have a massive impact on keeping the railway running

Suttle Projects has completed their first emergency call out project on the Network Rail Southern Renewals Enterprise Minor Works Lot 8 Drainage & Earthworks Framework.

The team were required to attend Yeovil Penn Mill South where loose material and rock had fallen from the sides of the cutting forcing the catch fence to move towards the railway. A 5mph speed restriction was enforced at the location to ensure the safety of passing trains.

The task involved removal of the debris from the site, reinstatement of the existing catch fencing and vegetation clearance each side of the failure. The rectification works commenced 12 hours after being notified and the works were completed and handed back at the end of the same shift. Enabling Network Rail to lift the speed restriction and return the railway to normal operation.

We would like to thank Network Rail’s Works Delivery Team and our supply chain partners for their support and prompt actions to quickly return the railway back into full service.
