High demand for parking and making optimal use of the limited space that is typically available is a constant problem for facilities and logistics managers across all sectors from operational ports, airports, local authorities, retail and private businesses.
Throw in the added complication of improving your parking capacity or making better use of the space that you have in live operational and/or public environment, means every aspect and risk must be carefully considered, planned and executed.
At Suttle Projects we strive to simplify your project delivery through meticulous up-front attention to detail, buildable designs, and clear communications throughout planning, execution and handover. Blending innovation and experience to deliver better civil engineering and parking solutions with more certain outcomes.
The £1.4m Crescent Car Park Optimisation Improvement Project to reinvigorate the area and create an enhanced environment in a busy town centre included the creation of 168 car parking spaces of increased width, an increased number of accessible parking spaces and dedicated motorcycle parking areas. The enhancements also included the provision of 19 electric vehicle charging points to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles in line with the local authority’s commitment towards becoming carbon neutral, new landscaping and tree planting.
With half the existing car park capacity needing to be maintained at all times, Suttle Projects’ approach to simplify every possible element would prove invaluable in completing this project. The highly constrained nature of the site meant there were several important issues to be considered to ensure the works would not cause unnecessary disruption to the neighbouring businesses, residents and travelling public. When unforeseen ground conditions were encountered, proactive solutions were created and promptly implemented to avoid any impact to the client’s programme and budget.
The Stokes Bay East Seawall Replacement included car parking Improvements to reinstate the car park to a workable condition. Collaborating with the supply chain partner, Wessex Macadams, the team proposed a specification and works scope for the reinstatement. Due to strong collaborative relationships on the project, these works were integrated into the programme without affecting the completion date. As a result of the associated project piling works finishing two weeks ahead of schedule, and the team consistently exceeding all programme durations, additional works on the Alverbank car park, which included drainage, resurfacing, and line marking, were all finalised within the original completion date.
In the project debrief, our client highlighted that our collaborative approach and open communication were key successes factors for the project, adding “Suttle Projects demonstrated a proactive attitude, offering effective solutions to on-site issues and their open and consistent communication throughout the project enabled timely resolutions of both site and commercial issues.”
