Network Rail Structural Integrity Southern Framework
The Structural Integrity Southern, (SIS) Framework was established to provide preventative and emergency maintenance of Network Rail infrastructure assets across the Southeast routes in Kent and Sussex.
Six suppliers were appointed to the Framework. The Suttle Projects approach was to simplify projects by focusing on creativity, reliability, productivity and sustainability in doing so blending innovation and experience to deliver better solutions with more certain outcomes.
A testament to this approach is that 313 of 579, 54% of all SIS Framework projects, were awarded to Suttle Projects, totalling £1.8m. Thereby delivering more projects and providing better value than all the other SIS Framework suppliers combined.
Stokes Bay Seawall Replacement Coastal Protection Scheme delivered through the Coastal Partners Framework included a sheet piling seawall, a reinforced concrete capping beam and safety handrailing. A new promenade public space was constructed behind the seawall with additional improvements to the car parking.

In the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) Minor Works Drainage & Earthworks Framework our project team entered a comprehensive 100-day mobilisation period with the customer’s representatives and other framework partners. This was an immensely beneficial period; we were able to familiarise ourselves with this innovative way of delivering drainage and earthworks schemes through the Network Rail Control Period 7 programme. We were fortunate to get sight of a small number of initial remits and were able to start planning those projects and testing our systems and processes that we had put into place to ensure we delivered efficiently and effectively from the outset.
To date we have been awarded 65 project remits covering a wide and diverse range of projects and in some cases multiple locations. Eight of these have been for emergency earthworks responses, projects where the operational railway was potentially compromised until the issues were resolved. Requiring a very prompt and impactful design and delivery response to ensure the railway would be back up and running as soon as practically and safely possible.
Suttle Projects Thanet Coastal Zone Maintenance Framework incorporates repairs and maintenance of coastal defence structures along the entire length of the authority’s 19-mile coastline and responsibilities cover proactive maintenance, responsive repairs and a 24-hour emergency call out service with a two-hour incident response time.
Since January 2025 197 projects have been awarded totalling circa £740,000 including demolition and refurbishments of coastal shelters, annual seaweed clearance, repairs to a tidal pool slice gate and repairs to a Victorian clock tower structure, built in 1897 in Broadstairs.
Reactive project work has included an emergency coping block stabilisation on the popular Westbrook Promenade in Margate.
Further major projects are anticipated including a coastal protection scheme and improvements to car parking.
In May 2025 Suttle Projects were appointed to the KBS Maritime Framework, a multi-disciplinary framework to support delivery of critical infrastructure projects at Portsmouth Naval Base. In our very first project to design and install replacement edge protection, working closely with the port docking team the edge protection was located closer to the dock edge to improve quayside usability and sightlines for the port team.
