Suttle Projects adopt the same proven approach for a temporary bridge/access required for one or two weeks as we do for a permanent support structure designed for 120 years.
For example at Swanworth Quarry extension in Dorset the core objective of the expansion proposal was to minimise the impact of the quarry on the local environment; part of which involved minimising the impact of providing access to the extension site which was separated from the existing quarry by a small valley and bridleway. The proposed solution included the installation of a new 21.4m span overbridge to allow HGV access to the new quarry site. The extracted stone from the extension area could then be brought back into the existing quarry to be processed with minimal impact on the environment.
At Langport Embankment access to reach the emergency worksite was required for 80 tonne piling rigs, crawler cranes and associated construction equipment and materials. The temporary bridging solution required in-house design for the temporary sheet piling and beam foundations to support the heavy load deck structure across an Environment Agency watercourse.
Suttle Projects self-operated fleet includes several fabricated plant bridges. These have a load capacity of 40 tonnes and are regularly deployed to cross obstructions such as rivers to reach restricted working locations, such as scour protection. On a housing development site in Gloucester one of these has been used as a saddle bridge to protect an existing heritage structure from the associated heavy construction traffic.
